Garden Room & Sitting Room

This recently completed project involved the manufacture of two matching oak-framed garden rooms, tailored to meet the client's individual requirements.

Constructed simultaneously, the project comprised a replacement oak-framed garden room for the existing uPVC conservatory and a separate snug to serve as both a playroom for the client’s grandchildren and a music space.

Matching Oak-Framed Buildings

The two garden rooms were created to mirror each other, resulting in a pair of oak-framed buildings that complement one another in scale and style, enhancing the overall character of the garden space. The main garden room replaced the former conservatory, offering improved comfort, insulation and visual appeal in a design that better suits the property’s character. The snug was built separately, providing a quiet and comfortable retreat within the garden.

Glazed Frontages

Glazed frontages are a key element of both structures, designed to maximise garden views while drawing in plenty of natural light. These expansive panes of glass frame the landscape beautifully and create a strong visual connection between the indoors and outdoors.

The finely detailed oak joinery is visible through the glazed elevations, allowing the interior to be filled with light while maintaining the warmth of traditional materials.

Velux Roof Lights

Velux roof lights were installed to maintain the light-filled, open feel of the interiors throughout the year; they are neatly positioned between the exposed oak rafters and allow for effective ventilation during the warmer months.

Warm Deck Roof Construction

The exposed rafters are made possible by the warm deck roof construction. This method provides strong thermal performance while showcasing the oak frame as a key internal feature of the space. The result is a ceiling that highlights the exposed oak structure as a defining interior feature, bringing warmth and authenticity to both buildings.

Built-In Log Burners

Built-in log burners were installed in each room to provide a reliable source of warmth throughout the year. Positioned as a focal point within the space, they complement the oak framing and neutral interiors, adding both character and function. Each flue was discreetly integrated into the roof structure, highlighting the attention to detail applied during construction.

External Cladding for Privacy

To maintain privacy from neighbouring properties, the rear and side elevations of both buildings were discreetly finished to help reduce overlooking. The cladding was selected not only for its practical benefit but also to complement the surrounding garden and brickwork. The result is a finish that respects the character of the property while adding a sense of seclusion to each space.

A Practical and Beautiful Addition

Both buildings were manufactured from sustainably sourced oak and assembled by our team. Designed to sit naturally within the garden setting, they reflect the same thoughtful design approach taken throughout the project. While each structure serves a different purpose—one as a day-to-day living space, the other as a private snug—they share the same attention to proportion, detail and overall quality.
